Hello all!
Before I go on any further, I must introduce you first to my work colleagues and dearest friends, Honey and Smudge. They are our working Cocker Spaniels. They look after our security for which they are remunerated handsomely with Corporate treats. Full of personality… sometimes a little too much, as they definitely make their voices heard!
Smudge led the way this morning into our work-in-progress newly built showroom (which will be ready in 2 weeks – there will be 17 displays). As she sits on the floor next to a gorgeous pebble coloured chest, she was admiring the rest of the room in white furniture with red painted walls.
Its difficult to imagine, and most people would think - Oh dear!
But it really does work, the whole idea of mixing and matching furniture using bold colours works! I say be bold, after all you want it to be your own, that shouts out ‘This is My Work -I did it’ and that accentuates your style.
Has anyone ever looked at a catalogue and thought to themselves ‘I want exactly that, everything in that room’ then reality hits you, and you realise you can’t afford or fit everything in the room. But then you think well I can’t just buy one item because it won’t go with the rest of the room, it’s a catch 22 situation.
Well I say ignore those so-called ‘rules’ all these trendsetters make. Make your own rules, it is after all your sanctuary from the madness surrounding us.
I think many people are realising this too, which is why the concept of ‘mixing the old with the new’ is in fashion, the rule is that there are no rules! I am liking this concept, as the majority of people aren’t decorating experts and the only person that is going to judge your room is you.
All those in favour say aye!
As the showroom is still under construction, I do not have photographic evidence of this, but here is another example of using daring colours.
Christine
